JNU row: Probe absolves Kanhaiya Kumar, finds ‘no conclusive evidence’ against Umar

TIA NEWS /

The magisterial probe report submitted to the Delhi government on Wednesday has not found any evidence against JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar. Kumar was granted bail on Wednesday by the Delhi high court after he was arrested nearly three weeks ago on sedition charges, which led to widespread protests across the country.

According to sources, the probe report has absolved Kumar of participating in any anti national activities including shouting slogans.

The report has also reported to have stated that it did not find any ‘conclusive evidence’ against JNU student Umar Khalid, despite the fact that he was present in a few demonstrations where anti national’ slogans were shouted. A Delhi court on Tuesday sent Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya, also a JNU student to a 14-day judicial custody in Tihar jail.

The report also stated that a few videos of the seven footages submitted for forensic tests were doctored. The forensic test report received by the Delhi government on Tuesday, has revealed that certain additional and overlaps were made into the videos based on which the JNU students were arrested.

According to Delhi government sources, the so called pro Afzal Guru and pro Kashmir slogans were shouted in voices with a Kashmiri accent.

“JNU administration has already identified their faces and placed them on noticeboard,” a senior official said, talking about those shouting ‘anti-national’ slogans.
