Congress MPs today protested in Parliament complex against Union Minister Ram Shankar Katheria’s alleged controversial remarks against the people of certain religion. Displaying posters, the Parliamentarians raised slogans against the government.
Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad accused the ruling party MPs and BJP leaders of dividing the country on religious lines. He said in the last one year they have been repeatedly making hate speeches instead of uniting the country.
Mr. Azad said the comments of Mr. Katheria and other BJP leaders are a fit case of sedition.BSP also criticized the NDA government over the issue.
Talking to reporters outside Parliament, party Chief Mayawati said had there been her government in Uttar Pradesh, such leaders would have been behind bars. Recently at a function in Agra, Mr. Katheria along with BJP MP Babu Lal had allegedly made some comments against certain religion. However, later the Minister had denied.
