At least five civilians have been injured in Pakistani firing and shelling in Shahpur sector of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir,along the Line of Control today. According to defence sources, Pakistan forces resorted to unprovoked heavy shelling and firing on forward Indian posts and civilian areas of this border district this morning. The troops guarding the borderline also retaliated the shelling effectively and heavy exchange of fire was going on when last reports came in.
During the wee hour also Pakistani forces resorted to shelling in Krishnaghati sector of Poonch which was retaliated by the army. Last night also Pakistan forces shelled and fired in Pallanwalan area of Akhnoor sector along the Line of Control in Jammu district.
Meanwhile, in the wake of firing and escalated tension along the border, some people from areas lying very close to LoC and International Border have started shifting to safer places. Administration has been providing accommodation to these people in camps.
