JD(U) has urged the Election Commission to put a ban on visit of BJP President Amit Shah and Union Ministers in Bihar to attend the Yoga Day event on Sunday.

The Model Code of Conduct is in force in state following the upcoming Legislative Council elections.

In a statement, party spokesperson K C Tyagi said the BJP leaders and Ministers are visiting the state during the period when Code of Conduct is in force which is a clear violation of poll norms.

He said the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the event in New Delhi which may influence the voters at the time of Legislative Council polls.

The JD(U) demands came just after the poll body instructed Bihar government to immediate stop ongoing ‘Badh Chala Bihar’ campaign in view of polls.

Mr. Tyagi, however, said the Yoga day celebration is a welcome step.

Voting for 24 seats of Legislative Council will take place on 7th of next month.
