India has rejected the US Commission on International Religious Freedom’s (USCIRF) annual report. MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup said, India has serious doubts on the credibility of the report.
He said, the Government does not see the locus standi of a foreign entity like USCIRF to pronounce on the state of Indian citizens’ constitutionally protected rights. He said, India takes no cognizance of the report.
The report said during the past few years, religious tolerance has deteriorated and religious freedom violations have increased in some areas of India. New Delhi had rejected the report in the past as well.
