India protests manner in which its diplomats’ names put in public domain in Pak

MEA swarupIndia today strongly protested the manner in which names of eight Indian diplomats were put in public domain in Pakistan risking their security.

Replying to a media query in New Delhi, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said, the issue of returning of the diplomats from Islamabad is a procedural issue and they have not yet been recalled.

Mr Swarup said, the decision taken on Indian officials in Islamabad will be based on their security.

The spokesman noted that the Indian officials were working in the fields of promoting people-to-people and trade and economic contacts between the two countries and they have been falsely implicated.

Mr Swarup said, Pakistan’s false allegations against them have the potential to adversely affect the activities of the High Commission.

He also termed the allegations against Indian officials as baseless saying these are crude attempts to target the officials.

MEA rejects Pak’s allegations of unprovoked firing by Indian forces along IB

New Delhi today rejected Islamabad’s allegations of unprovoked firing by Indian security forces along the International Border. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said, Indian forces neither initiate a ceasefire violation nor do they target civilians.

They retaliate in a very restrained manner when either their defensive posts or personnel are targeted or cover fire is provided by the Pakistani army to allow infiltrators to cross the Line of Control.

He said, India lodged a strong protest with Pakistan on killing of its civilians in shelling by Pakistan forces.

Mr Swarup said, in several districts along the International Border and LoC normal life has been affected, people have been displaced and over 100 schools have been closed.

He said, approximately two-thirds of the ceasefire violations this year by Pakistan have taken place in last five weeks.
