President, Vice President, Prime Minister pay floral tributes

India today paid tributes to Bharat Ratna Dr B R Ambedkar on his 65th Mahaparinirvan Diwas or death anniversary. A number of functions are being organised all over the country to highlight the contribution of Dr Ambedkar in nation-building.

President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr Virendra Kumar, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, Union Ministers, Members of Parliament paid floral tributes to the architect of the Constitution at his statue in the Parliament House complex in New Delhi.

Buddhist monks are reciting Dhamma Puja, and special songs dedicated to Dr Ambedkar are being performed in the Parliament by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s Song and Drama Division.

In his Maan Ki Baat programme on All India Radio last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that Baba Saheb had devoted his entire life in rendering his duties for the country and society.

He said, we the countrymen should never forget the basic spirit of our Constitution, that our Constitution expects all of us to discharge our duties. Mr Modi called upon countrymen to take a pledge that in the Amrit Mahotsav, we will try to fulfill our duties with full devotion and it will be our true tribute to Baba Saheb.

President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid floral tributes to Babasaheb Dr B.R. Ambedkar on his Mahaparinirvan Diwas at Parliament House Lawns in New Delhi.

In his message, Vice President said, Babasaheb was a great nationalist, social reformer, legal luminary and a champion of democracy. Mr Naidu said, he was the messiah of the oppressed and all through his life, he strove to dismantle caste barriers. He said, the nation is indebted to Dr Ambedkar for his stellar contribution in drafting the Constitution.

Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr Virendra Kumar, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale and Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge also paid tributes to Dr Ambedkar at Parliament House.

In Maharashtra, rich tributes are being paid to Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on his Mahaparinirvana Diwas. Governor Bhagat Singh Koshari, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray along with various other cabinet ministers paid tributes to the architect of the constitution.

Governor Koshyari, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and other dignitaries visited Chaityabhoomi, in Dadar, a place where final rites of Dr. Ambedkar was performed.

Functions are been organized in Nagpur, Dhule, Sangli, Solapur and Washim districts among in remembrance of the architect of the Indian constitution. A special blood donation camp is being organized at Deeksha Bhoomi in Nagpur. Meanwhile, people from different parts of the country have arrived at Chaityabhoomi to pay tributes to the great leader.

In view of the fresh threat from Omicron variant of Covid 19, a live broadcast of the event is being organized to avoid over crowding. The govt. has appealed to the people to witness the event sitting at home to curb spread of the virus. It has also imposed various restrictions for the visitors at Chaityabhoomi which includes entry for only those who have taken both doses of the vaccine.

The Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray expressed gratitude to Babasaheb Ambedkar for his invaluable contribution towards building a strong republic. In his message, the Chief Minister said that human welfare was the lifeblood of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. He said Babasaheb used his knowledge to inculcate the values of equality, brotherhood and democracy in the society.
