India is constantly monitoring the situation in Qatar which is facing crisis following diplomatic isolation by four Gulf countries. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said this while replying to a tweet.
A Twitter user had requested for government help claiming that her brother and other Indians are stuck in Qatar with shortage of basic amenities. Replying to it, Ms. Swaraj said, this is just not correct and government is constantly monitoring the situation.
Earlier, the Minister had said that India’s only concern is about Indians there. She had said the government is trying to find out if any Indian is stuck.
Qatar is facing isolation by Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the UAE and Bahrain. All flights to and from Qatar have been suspended by these countries. There are around 6.5 lakh Indians living in Qatar.
