India has cancelled the visa given to a leading Chinese dissident to participate in a conference in Dharamsala, after China’s objection over it. Souces said the visa given to Dolkun Isa has been cancelled. Isa, a leader of World Uyghur Congress, had been invited for the conference being organised by US-based ‘Initiatives for China’.
India’s decision to allow World Uyghur Congress leaders whom China regards as backers of terrorism in Xinjiang province had come in the backdrop of Beijing blocking India’s bid to get Jaish e Mohamed chief Masood Azhar designated as a terrorist by the UN.
Meanwhile, agency reports say that Mr Isa has expressed his disappointment over the Indian Government’s decision of cancelling his visa.
