Hundreds of villages across UP, 16 districts in Tarai and eastern parts of the state are reeling under flood causing damage to life and property. Rains and water coming from upper hilly areas and Nepal have caused flood in various parts in state.
AIR correspondent reports that according to State Relief Commissioner office 838 villages of 16 districts are affected by flood out of which 520 villages are inundated.
State Relief Commissioner Sanjay Goyal told that as of now 14 people have lost their lives due flood related reasons. The districts hit by natural calamity are Ambedkar Nagar ,Ayodhya ,Azamgarh, Bahraich ,Baliya ,Barabanki, Basti , Badaun, Devriya ,Gonda ,Gorakhpur ,Lakhimpur khiri ,Kushinagar ,Mau, Sant kabir nagar and Sitapur.
Many Rivers including Sharda, Ghagra and Saryu are flowing above the danger marks at several places in Lakhimpur khiri,Barabanki, Ayodhya and Balia districts .
Flood effected people have been lodged in 331 shelter houses and all stranded people in there areas are being provided Ration Kits containing enough food grains and other items.
Seven hundred 48 flood post have been erected here. One thousand 176 boats have been pressed into service to ferry affected people in flooded areas and 267 mobile medical teams have also been deployed. Total 22 teams of NDRF and SDRF including 07 PAC companies have been put on duty for relief work.
