New Delhi: Hillwoods Academy Preet Vihar, celebrated its XIX Annual Function with much fanfare of cultural festivity on November 26- 27. The Gala programme reflected a unique blend of innate talents of school students in cultural and other academic activities.
Renowned Odissi dancer Padmashree Kiran Segal and outstanding doyen of Kathak Padmashree Shovana Narayan, graced the two successive evening to encourage the young minds.
The school’s annual report was presented by the Principal, Ms. Rita Srivastava and headmistress Seema.
On 26 Nov. the cultural programme began with a rendition by school choir and Ganesh stuti giving a solemn and auspicious beginning to an eventful cultural extravaganza.
The highlight of the day was the dance drama ‘ Guru Shishya’ glorifying the excellent quest for knowledge which transcends boundaries of race, religion or culture and the importance of a guru who creates a visionary path for his disciples.
English play ‘The Magic Bonbons’ a story by L. Frank Banm was also performed in a wonderful way by the children and was appreciated for humor and powerful performance by little actors.
The ballet ‘Coppelia’ was also beautifully presented by the dancers through their elegant style, poise and delicate rhythmic moves.
Modern dance forms Jazz, Jumba, Freestyle, Salsa showcased by tiny tots was indeed a dazzling and captivating performance immensely enjoyed by everyone.
Chief Guest Ms. Kiran Segal, addressed the august gathering and felicitated students for their excellence in academics and co-curricular activities. Prestigious Avdhoot Bhagwan Ram Medal for the Best Student was conferred upon Anindita Singh. The Takshshila House also bagged the best house trophy on 26th of November.
The programme on 27th began with notes by the school choir group. A welcome dance ‘Shiva Fusion’ was presented by the students to invoke the blessings of Lord Shiva, depicting Lord Shiva as a cosmic dancer.
The highlight of the evening was the soulful ballet ‘Swan Lake’ by Russian playwright Pyotr Tchaikovsky. A theatrical drama by Stanley Houghton ‘The Dear Departed’ was also enacted by the students in an amazing way. The play is a social satire on the condition of the parents abandoned and neglected by their own children. Followed by the play, students presented the ‘Krishna Act’ depicting the sacred knowledge he gave to Arjuna on the battlefield excellently.
The Chief Guest addressed the gathering and honored the children with prizes. The most prestigious award Avdhoot Bhagwan Ram for the best student, Gold Medal was awarded to Hannu Sharma of class XII. The CBSE achievers were also honored.
The PTA excellence awards were given to the students who have excelled in academics, sports and co-curricular activities. Best actor and actress awards were bagged by Chirag Sethi and Niyati Kachroo of class IX. Dance ballet Krishna was judged the best part of the evening.
The headmistress proposed the vote of thanks. The cultural fiesta was highly appreciated by all.
