Gujarat High Court today refused to quash sedition charges filed against Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti-PAAS- leader Hardik Patel by the Surat Police. The petition was filed by Hardik Patel’s father Bharatbhai Patel. Hardik had allegedly asked a youth of his community in Surat to kill policemen instead of committing suicide. The conversation was captured in video camera by a local news channel. However, court has ordered to remove charges against him under section 153 A and 506 to spread enmity among the society.

Hardik Patel was arrested by Surat Police Crime Branch in this case and was sent to police custody on three days remand by a court in Surat. After three-day remand he was sent to 14 days judicial custody. In another sedition case, the Ahmedabad Police Crime Branch had arrested him through transfer warrant immediately after his remand period was over in Surat. Hardik is presently in 7 days Police remand of Ahmedabad city Crime branch.

Meanwhile, a police constable and a computer operator of the Ahmedabad Crime Branch have been suspended for taking selfie with Patidar leader Hardik Patel. Crime Branch DCP Dipen Bhadran suspended constable Mahendra Singh and computer operator Arun Kumar with immediate effect. The photographs went viral on the social media after being shared on WhatsApp. A departmental probe has also been ordered into the matter.
