Government has fixed target to open 25,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendra across the country by March 2027: Union Minister Anupriya Patel

The Government has fixed a target to open 25,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendra (JAKs) under Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadi Pariyojana (PMBJP) across the country by March 2027. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha on Friday, the Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Anupriya Patel said a total 14,131 JAKs have been opened till the end of March this year.

She said, presently, 990 applications are under process at different levels for opening JAKs in the country. As on date, 206 pharmaceutical manufacturers are associated with the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Bureau of India, the implementation agency of PMBJP for supplies of medicines, surgical equipment, nutraceuticals and ayurvedic products.  The Minister also informed that a total of six suppliers have been blacklisted in the last five years due to non-compliance with quality standards.
