Academicians and activists Prof R Someswar Rao and Prof Hargopal who are acting as mediators on behalf of the red-ultras are arriving here Saturday.

The extended deadline set by Maoists to meet their demand to free the hostages ends this evening.

After marathon meetings by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and other senior officials, the Odisha Government has finally prepared itself to come to the negotiation table tomorrow for the release of Malkangiri district magistrate and collector R Vineel Krishna and junior engineer Pabitra Mohan Majhi.

Prof R Someswar Rao and Prof Hargopal who are mediating on behalf of the Maoists had rounds of discussion over telephone with government officials and reportedly with the Maoists Saturday over the issue.

The Maoists are said to have agreed not to harm Krishna and Majhi till end of the negotiation. The state Legislative Assembly Saturday unanimously passed a resolution appealing the Maoists to release their hostages in unharmed condition. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for the second time has appealed the red-ultras not to physically harm Krishna and Majhi.

People across Odisha belonging to different sections of life are praying for safe release of Krishna and Majhi who have been abducted by Maoists since last Wednesday evening from Malkangiri district of Odisha.

Andhra-Orissa Boarder Special Zone Committee secretary Bhaskar has also appealed to the Maoists to extend deadline further as the process of talks between Government and Maoists has begun.
