NEW DELHI: (AMN) Amid the opposition continued hangama over the 2 G scam probe, the government on Wednesday transacted some important business in the Lok Sabha before it was adjourned for the day It transacted substantial financial and legislative business before adjourning for the day. The Appropriation Bills and supplementary demands for grants moved by the Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, were adopted without discussion through voice vote even as the Opposition members continued to raise pitch in the well of the House. Earlier, the House reaffirmed its resolve to step up efforts to contain HIV-AIDS by generating awareness among the people to mark World AIDS Day on Wednesday.
 

 

A bill aimed at laying down judicial standards and providing for accountability of judges, was also introduced in the Lok Sabha. The Bill seeks to establish credible and expedient mechanism for investigating individual complaints against misbehaviour or incapacity of a judge of the Supreme Court or of a High Court. It also provides for regulating the procedure for such a probe. The Judicial Standards and Accountability Bill, 2010, moved by the Law and Justice Minister, Veerappa Moily, will help in strengthening the institution of judiciary by making it more accountable. Under the proposed bill, every judge will have to make declaration of assets and liabilities.   


It was 14 day of the opposition demanding for JPC probe into 2G spectrum and not allowing the both Houses of Parliament to function. In the Rajya Sabha, except for laying of papers, no other business could be transacted.
