One of its major goals is to enhance accountability of the judicial system through structural changes and by setting performance standards. This information was givenby the Minister of Law and Justice, Mr. Salman Khurshid in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha said .
He said inadequacy of infrastructure in subordinate courts has been one of the bottlenecks in the speedy delivery of justice. Hence the Centre has granted an increase of five-fold for infrastructure development to the States in this financial year. The amount has been raised to five hundred crore rupees as against one hundred crore rupees till now. Mr. Khurshid said that the government has accepted the recommendation of the 13th Finance Commission to provide a grant of five thousand crore rupees to the States to improve their justice delivery system in the next five years.
