An outfit styled as “Hindu United Front” took out an armed procession on Parliament Street on 10 May demanding abolition of Muslims’ minority status, enactment of law to curtail population and a ban on offering namaz on roads.
A riot broke out on 16 May at Sadar Bazar and Bara Hindu Rao which spread to Qasabpura in Old Delhi. Some vehicles were damaged and a few people were injured in this violence which was the culmination of a stabbing incident two days earlier in Jhandewalan because the victim (Zubair) sported beard and skullcap.
Delhi Minorities Commission has issued notices to the DCPs of the respective areas to file status reports explaining the actions taken against the culprits.
