The death toll due to heavy rains and flood in north Gujarat and Kutch has reached to 40. State Relief Director Mr. Bipin Bhatt has said that 14 deaths were reported from Banaskantha district alone, while five deaths were reported in adjoining Patan district and four in Kutch. Meanwhile, the relief and rescue works are in final stage- as 16 teams of NDRF along with Army and Air Force helicopters are evacuating the people from marooned areas in Banaskantha district.
Southwest monsoon has been vigorous over West Bengal and active over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand. Heavy to very heavy rainfall also occurred at isolated places over North East, Konkan and Goa today.
