Cyclonic storm ‘ASHOBAA’ over east central Arabian Sea has moved in a northwesterly direction and now lays centred about 750 kms west of Mumbai and 520 kms west-southwest of Veraval in Gujarat. It will move north-northwestwards and intensify further into a severe cyclonic storm by tomorrow night. Under the influence of this system, rainfall would occur at most places over coastal Karnataka, Konkan and Goa as well as south Gujarat with isolated heavy falls. Strong winds speed reaching 70 to 120 kilometres per hour would prevail along and off Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra coasts.

The MeT Department said, sea condition would be very rough to high along and off Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra coasts. Fishermen along and off Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra and Gujarat coasts are advised not to venture into the sea during the next 48 hours and those who are out at open sea are advised to return to the coast.

In Gujarat, weather department has issued a warning to fishermen along the coast following the storm. As a precautionary measure, danger signal number 2 has been hoisted at all ports of Gujarat.
