Home Minister Rajnath Singh has said the NDA Government does not endorse any discriminatory statement by anyone based on caste, creed, race or religion. Clarifying the government’s stand in the Lok Sabha today, Mr. Singh said the Constitution gives equal rights to all citizens irrespective of caste or religion. The Home Minister was responding to zero hour mentions by some of the Congress members.
Senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge demanded that the government should register cases against newspapers carrying such remarks. Earlier, raising the issue MI Shanavas of the Congress alleged that some responsible people in the ruling party are trying to tarnish the image of minorities in the country by making such statements.
