Congress party Monday released its manifesto for the ensuing assembly elections in Manipur. It promised a constitutional safeguard for the territorial integrity of the state.

The manifesto was released by CP Joshi, General Secretary, AICC and Party In-charge of the state. Speaking after releasing election manifesto, Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh said that the Congress party has almost fulfilled all the promises it had made in its election manifesto in 2012. He also appealed to the people of the state to give another chance to Congress party to serve the people of Manipur.

The Congress party manifesto said that in the event of coming back to power, the party will strive for removal of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act from the remaining part of the State as it had been done in the seven Assembly segments under the Imphal Municipal Corporation.

The party also promised for employment of minimum three lakh educated un-employment youths through skill development over a period of the next five years. The party also said that sectors such as Tourism, Information Technology, Agriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture, Food processing, Fisheries etc., will be accorded priority through appropriate skill development with the involvement of Government, Public and Private Partners. The party also promised to provide drinking water to all households in the State by 2022.
