election-commission-indiaCongress party  today lodged a formal complaint with the Election Commission (EC) over the reported deployment of RSS volunteers in all Assembly constituencies in Uttar Pradesh for campaigning in favour of BJP candidates.

The party urged the Commission to issue directions to all CEOs and DEOs and other personnel involved in monitoring of election campaign and Model Code of Conduct (MCC) to ensure that no campaign is conducted by them or their associates and affiliates.

Party legal cell secretary K C Mittal requested the EC to add the expenditure incurred by them to the account of BJP candidates in the assembly constituency.

Congress said the RSS and their affiliates have been doing full swing political activities without being registered as a political party.

Congress said either BJP should own the RSS and its affiliates or officially merge and ensure compliance of electoral laws by submitting to the jurisdiction of the Commission.
