MADHYA PRADESH Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said that he would request for CBI probe into the Vayapam Scam. “Now I am sending a letter to the High Court requesting them to order a CBI probe” into the scam, CM said at a press conference in Bhopal.

Currently High Court is monitoring the SIT probing the scam.

“I have complete faith in the Supreme Court, High Court and the system. Since then, it is being asked why the enquiry is not being done by the Supreme Court.. I have said this before, I can’t order a CBI enquiry directly. I request High Court to handover the probe to CBI” Chouhan said.

“I  was up all night and have thought about it. I have decided that CBI should enquire the issue. With a CBI probe, everything will be crystal clear in the case”he said.

On Uma Bharti he said that he had deep respect for her. “Whatever she may have said. Uma Ji is a senior leader, a union minister and like my sister”

SC agrees to hear pleas seeking CBI probe on July 9

Meanwhile Supreme Court today agreed to hear the petitions filed by Congress leader Digvijaya Singh and others for a CBI probe into the Vyapam scam on July 9. A bench, headed by Chief Justice HL Dattu, agreed to give an urgent hearing and posted the matter for July 9th.

Many activists, lawyers, politicians belonging to opposition parties, and whistleblower of the scam had approached the court for a CBI probe. They alleged that the state government appointed SIT is not conducting the probe in a fair manner. They said that the deaths of more than 40 people related to the scam raise suspicion that they are being killed to protect influential people involved in the scam. The court had yesterday agreed to hear a petition challenging a Madhya Pradesh High Court order quashing FIR filed against the state Governor. That petition will also be heard on Thursday.
