Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) today demanded immediate justice for Abdul Hafeez whose father was killed after a brutal attack by a violent mob in Bankura. The party warned that it will gherao DM Office if justice is not done within 10 days.
A delegation from the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), led by Co-convener Ashutosh Ranka, and accompanied by senior members Vijay Mallangi, Ankit Bhardwaj, Akash Prem and Sudhir Sangwan visited 25-year-old Shaik Abdul Hafeez and his family in Karisunda Village, Bankura.
The family has been left devastated by the fatal assault and is demanding nothing less than justice and accountability. Abdul Hafeez made it clear that the family is not seeking monetary compensation. Their sole demand is justice for his deceased father by setting up a proper government school for poor villlage children and accountability for every individual responsible for his death.
Abdul and his family were brutally assaulted by a politically linked mob after initiating the ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign. The attackers cut power to Abdul’s home before launching the initial assault, which later escalated into a secondary armed attack at the hospital. Despite receiving timely alerts, Indus Police personnels failed to provide protection to the victims.
Before succumbing to his severe injuries, Abdul’s father left behind a heartbreaking mandate for his son – “Don’t worry about anything. You just do whatever you can do for our country.”
Condemning the attack in the strongest terms, CJP Co-convener Ashutosh Ranka said,
“The sheer brutality and calculated malice of this attack are bone-chilling. What kind of monstrous mindset drives individuals to bring sharp knives and talvars to butcher an innocent family over an education campaign?
Look at the ugly truth behind this violence. Almost every MLA or MP from the BJP owns their own private schools. Is that why they want to ensure no other village children can afford a decent education? They know that poor families cannot afford expensive private schooling. They explicitly expect poor people to suffer with broken infrastructure just to force them into paying for their corporatised, politician-owned private institutes. And when you are asked for basic structural accountability, you just go out and kill people as if you are the biggest goons on the block. The political establishment must understand one thing very clearly: this country is watching your actions.”
To ensure justice is delivered swiftly, the Cockroach Janta Party has issued the following four-point charter of demands to the administration:
* Immediate FIR: Register an FIR against all accused individuals & trace all the absconded miscreants involved in the fatal attack and ensure that every person responsible is brought to justice.
* Impartial investigation: Order a court-monitored, independent investigation into allegations of police complicity, negligence and misconduct in the handling of the incident.
* State protection: Provide round-the-clock security and protection to Abdul Hafeez and his family to ensure their safety.
* School to be set up: Respect the family’s rejection of monetary compensation and establish a public school in the name of Abdul’s deceased father.
If the authorities fail to take concrete action within the 10 day period, the Cockroach Janta Party will mobilise supporters and hold a peaceful gherao of the District Magistrate’s (DM) Office, demanding immediate justice and accountability.
Along with the national team, the West Bengal team including Maruf, Dedipya Ganguly and others were also present at the site today.
