The Centre will soon write to the states seeking their views on the proposed data protection law. During Question Hour in the Lok Sabha, Law and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said the IT Secretary will write to the Chief Secretaries of all states for consultation on the data protection law.
He said the government would like to have an elaborate debate before framing the law in this regard. The Justice Srikrishna panel on data protection had submitted its report last week, proposing a draft law on the issue.
