anil-baijalThe Union Home Ministry today sought a report from Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on the alleged assault on the chief secretary of the city government.

The Ministry has asked the LG to submit a detailed report on the alleged manhandling of bureaucrat Anshu Prakash at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence last night.

The Home Minister Rajnath Singh said civil servants should be allowed to work with dignity and without fear. He expressed deep pain at the happenings involving the Delhi Chief Secretary and assured that justice will be done.

Our correspondent reports Mr Singh met the Chief Secretary as well as a delegation of IAS, DANICS and Subordinate Services of Delhi government.

Two IAS bodies also met Lt Governor Anil Baijal to lodge their protest over the matter and said the incident appears to be pre-planned and pre-meditated.

IAS, DANICS associations, along with the Delhi Administration Subordinate Services, alleged that the meeting was called last night to put pressure on the chief secretary to release publicity material regarding achievements of the AAP government, in violation of the Supreme court guidelines. They claimed the meeting was devoid of any emergency or public interest.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police has filed an FIR in the case. The FIR has been filed under different sections of IPC for obstructing a public servant from performing the duty and assaulting him.

Earlier in his complaint to police, Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash alleged that an assault on him at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence was premeditated and a conspiracy of all those who were present at a meeting there last night.

Delhi Police Spokesperson Deependra Pathak said, a complaint has also been filed by a Delhi Minister saying that he was assaulted while taking the lift in Delhi Secretariat.
