Cracking whip on the illicit Chit Fund companies the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has conducted a series of raids across Kolkata today. The sleuths raided the offices of Basil International Limited and the residences of the company’s officers. The central investigating agency conducted raids in 15 places including Salt Lake, Kalikapur and Behala. In Kalikapur, CBI raided the house of BC Chowdhury, a top officer of Basil.
In Behala, the sleuths raided the house of Shantanu Chakraborty, Additional Director of Basil. The Assam based company has various offices across the country and is accused of financial fraud. CBI said that the raids have proved to be very fruitful as a huge stack of important documents and evidences has been seized by the agency.
