The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has urged interim chief adviser Muhammad Yunus to make a clear and genuine commitment regarding the national election timeline. “You (chief adviser Yunus) have mentioned December, March, and June as possible election dates, but the public is not taking it well.

You must announce a definite timeline so political parties can respond,” said BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed while distributing Eid food aid in Dhaka’s Uttarkhan area. Mr Ahmed criticised Yunus’ inconsistent statements on the election schedule, saying, “One moment, you say December, then June.

The people respect you; this sort of talk would have suited Sheikh Hasina.” While acknowledging Yunus’ efforts against market syndicates, Rizvi pointed out that rice, eggs, and chicken remain expensive and urged the government to ensure actions align with commitments.
