The ongoing controversy over Lalit Modi today took a new turn today with the former IPL chief twitted that he met Priyanka Gandhi and her husband Robert Vadra at a restaurant in London. A war of words has broken out between the BJP and Congress over former IPL chief Lalit Modi’s claim BJP today questioned why Gandhi family is in touch with Lalit Modi.

BJP  spokesperson Sambit Patra said it is a serious matter if Priyanka Gandhi and her husband Robert Vadra have met Lalit Modi in London.

Reacting to the claims by Modi, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said neither Priyanka Gandhi nor Robert Vadra has ever interacted socially with Lalit Modi. He said a chance encounter with an individual in a restaurant full of people is neither a crime nor morally wrong. Mr Surjewala said it is an attempt to divert attention from charges being faced by senior BJP leaders.
