Bihar government has transferred about five thousand policemen throughout the state. Eleven Sergeant Major of police lines of ten districts including Patna have also been transferred. Additional Director General of Police S K Singhal told media that 4994 police officials were posted at a place for over ten years.
They have been directed to join at new places till 30th of this month. He said police officials will get salary of December from new station.
On Nov 4, 175 police personnel were dismissed from service and another 30 placed under suspension after their rampage within and outside New Police Lines premises at Lodipur in Patna.
The perpetrators of violence allegedly attempted to lynch DSP Mashluddin for denying leave to a female recruit who had contracted dengue. She died, following which the agitation began.
Out of the 175, 165 were newly recruited constables and more than 60 per cent of them were women.
This is a first of its kind step in the history of Bihar police, which, according to senior officials, was much required to send a stern signal to men in uniform that such gross indiscipline would not be tolerated.
SP (Central) D Amarkesh, SP (East) Rajendra Kumar Bheel and SP (Rural) Anand Kumar, who had reached police lines to control the situation, were manhandled and bodyguards of Kumar had to open fire in air to protect him. Even SSP Manu Maharaaj failed to enter the premises for 40 minutes due to irate recruits.
