A militant was killed on the second day in the ongoing gunfight in Karan Nagar area of Srinagar on Tuesday, police said.
The firefight had erupted on Monday, after officials said that militants had tried to mount a Fidayeen attack on the CRPF installation in the area, housing the 23 battalion and CRPF Director General’s office.
In a tweet, DGP SP Vaid said a militant of Lashkar-e-Toiba has been killed in the gunfight.
Meanwhile Curfew-like restrictions have been imposed in downtown in Srinagar as a precautionary measure in view of an encounter underway between security forces and two Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants holed up in a building near battalion headquarters of CRPF in Karan Nagar.
All roads leading to Karan Nagar in civil lines have also been sealed with barbed wires to prevent people from going towards the encounter site.
