The Election campaign for single-phase Assembly Polls in Punjab ends today at 6 PM. All political parties, as well as independent candidates, tried to woo voters in their last-minute bid. The polling will take place on February 20.

There are 1304  candidates in the fray including two transgenders and 93 women candidates for 117 Assembly constituencies of the state. Among all the candidates, nine candidates are of 25-years-old age and six candidates are above the 80-years, whereas five times Chief Minister 94 years old Parkash Singh Badal is the oldest candidate contesting from Lambi constituency in Sri Muktsar Sahib. Among the 93 women candidates, 29 are contesting as independents. The congress has fielded 11 and AAP 12 women candidates whereas 9 women candidates of BJP and its alliance partners and 6 women candidates of SAD-BSP alliance are in fray.

As per the data made available by the Chief Electoral Office, there is a total of 2 crore 14 lakh 99 thousand 804 registered voters in the state for these elections, out of which one is crore 12 lakh 98 thousand 81 male, one crore 20 thousand 996 female, 727 third genders, 1 lakh 58 thousand 341 PWD voters, one lakh 9 thousand 624 service voters, one thousand 608 NRI voters and 5 lakh 9 thousand 205 Voters are above the age of 80.
