NiAThe NIA Special Court convicted 18 United National Liberation Front ,UNLF militants for various offences including criminal conspiracy of terrorists’ acts and waging war against the Centre in a 2010 case in Assam, .

All the accused have been sentenced to 7 to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment. Among those who have been sentenced to jail include, Manipur based militant outfit UNLF Chairman Raj Kumar Meghen.

The Assam police arrested two militants in Guwahati in 2010. Later, in subsequent investigation the NIA and police arrested 20 more militants of the banned outfit UNLF who were involved in anti-national activities in Assam and Manipur.

In due course of investigation, the NIA filed charge sheets against 25 persons. Seven of them are still at large while rest 18 have been sentenced to jail today.
