The government today apologized for BJP leader Ram Madhav’s criticism of Vice-President Hamid Ansari’s absence during the Yoga Day celebrations at Rajpath in New Delhi yesterday. Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Naik told media in New Delhi that Vice- President can not be invited to an event where the Prime Minister is chief guest.
He said unknowingly something has happened which should have been avoided. The Minister said that Mr. Madhav has already apologized and withdrew his statement. Following the controversy, the Congress accused BJP of playing divisive politics on the International Day of Yoga by targeting Mr. Ansari.
