AMUWomen’s College, at Aligarh Muslim University organized the annual All India Mushaira on April 19 at the College Auditorium. AMU Pro-Chancellor Nawab Ibne Saeed Khan of Chhatari graced the occasion as chief guest while Vice Chancellor Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah patronized the Mushaira proceedings with his graceful presence. Yash Bharti awarded poet Nawaz Deobandi, Vice Chairman, UP Urdu Academy presided over the Mushaira proceedings.

On this occasion Mrs. Sabiha Simi Shah and the University Registrar, Dr. Asfar Ali Khan also graced the function.

More than a dozen Urdu poets from all over the North India participated in the poetic soiree including Zoya Zaidi, Mehtab Haider Naqvi, Azra Naqvi, Siraj Ajmali, Rashid Anwer Rashid, Moid Rasheedi, Javed Naseemi, Athar Inayati, Rizwanur Raza and Salma Shahin who engaged the audience with their thoughtful compositions.

While Moid Rasheedi presented a poetic composition on the development initiatives taken by the Vice Chancellor Lt. Gen. Shah, Azhar Inayati highlighted the social and political issues in a concealed manner.

Addressing on the occasion, Chief Guest Nawab Ibne Saeed Khan of Chhatari appreciated the efforts of Women’s College administration for keeping alive this tradition and enriching the cultural heritage of the University. He urged the University administration to provide air conditioners for the College Auditorium.

Prof. Naima Gulrez, Principal, Women’s College extended thanks to the guests. Prof. Durdana Qasmi and Dr. Humaira Afridi played a key role in the organization of the Mushaira.

Dr. Shariq Aqueel conducted the proceedings.
