Dawakhana Tibbiya College (DTC) of Aligarh Muslim University marked its Platinum Jubilee with a special Platinum Jubilee-cum-Dealers Meet, celebrating 75 years of service and contribution to Unani medicine. Founded in 1950 as a small dispensary under Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College (AKTC), DTC has grown into one of India’s most trusted Unani pharmaceutical institutions.

AMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Naima Khatoon presided over the ceremony as Chief Patron and launched three key initiatives to commemorate the milestone — the new 75-year completion logo, an upgraded official DTC website, and Sharbat DilZeal, a ready-to-drink herbal energy formulation suitable for all age groups. In her address, she congratulated the DTC team for its sustained excellence and expressed confidence in the Dawakhana’s expanding global prospects through modernisation and innovation.

Former Vice Chancellor Prof. Mohammad Gulrez, the Chief Guest, praised the historic stature of the Dawakhana and emphasised the need for research-driven growth. He said he was confident that by India’s centenary of Independence, DTC’s Unani products would make their way into international markets.

Prof. Aasim Zafar, AMU Registrar and Occupier of DTC, described the 75-year journey as a remarkable institutional achievement, highlighting the Dawakhana’s adherence to quality standards and service to society.

Guest of Honour Prof. Saiyad Shah Alam (NIUM Bangalore) commended DTC’s role in safeguarding Unani heritage and urged efforts toward making traditional medicine more affordable and widely available. Another Guest of Honour, Prof. Gulshan Wadhwa, applauded the Dawakhana’s policy compliance, consistent quality, and national recognition despite minimal advertising.

Reflecting on its legacy, Prof. S.M. Safdar Ashraf, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, stressed the importance of expanding research and development to strengthen the scientific base of Unani medicine.

Earlier, Prof. Riaz Ahmad, Member In-Charge, welcomed guests and outlined DTC’s evolution from a small dispensary to a nationally recognised manufacturer of quality formulations. Prof. Badruddujja Khan, Principal of AKTC, highlighted its foundational role in preserving traditional practices.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by General Manager Mr. Mohd. Shariq Azam, while Ms. Yasha Taimoori and Mr. Ayman Hafeez Khan conducted proceedings. A special teaser prepared by Mr. Mohd Saquib and Mr. Shariq was also launched.
