Jaipur’s bustling Johari Bazar was adorned with saffron flags and large hoardings lining the roads to welcome their star campaigner, BJP’s Union Home Minister Amit Shah, for a roadshow.
The event aimed to boost support for Jaipur Lok Sabha candidate Mrs. Manju Sharma, a first-time contender, against Congress candidate Pratap Singh Khachariyawas.”
Interestingly, the usual excitement within the business community was absent as one of the shop owner made a criptic remark about high profile visit, expressing frustration by saying, “Mr Amit Shah will come and go, but our problems are far from over and we are totally fed up, when pressed further, he added, Brother, we have been misled.
The mood among young voters in particular were upbeat as they will see their leader Amit Shah for the first time so closely.
The constituency comprises eight assembly seats, with six currently held by BJP lawmakers and two seats held by the Congress Party, with a total electorate of more than 21 lakh.
Additionally, the Congress Party candidate also holds considerable influence in the city, having served as a former minister in the previous Ashok Gehlot government and being very popular among the youth.
Meanwhile, the BJP candidate is contesting her first election, relying on her father’s legacy, the late Mr. Bhanwar Lal Sharma, who represented the Hawamahal assembly segment for six terms.”
The battle for this prestigious seat will feature a contest between the first-time BJP women candidate and the Congress two-time MLA.
