At least 30 worshipers were killed and many hurt in a latest sectarian attack at a Shia mosque in Kabul on Friday. A suicide bomber detonated his explosives in the mosque killing at least 30 worshippers, police said.
Accordning to Pajhwok Afghan News the bomber entered the mosque in Police District 13 of Kabul city and opened fire on worshippers, Kabul Crime Branch chief Gen Mohammad Salim Almas said.
Another 45 people were reportedly injured in the attack that follows the attack on another Shia mosque in Kabul on September 29.
The latest attack targeted Imam Zaman mosque in Pul-i-Khushk area during evening prayers, a resident of the area, Daud Hussaini, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the suicide bomber blew himself up among the worshippers. He said it was a powerful blast that killed and wounded a large number of people.
Soon after the blast, he said, security forces reached the area and started evacuating the dead and wounded to hospitals.
A security official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News that at least 30 people were killed and 20 more injured in the blast.
