The festival of sacrifice, Eid-ul-Azha or Baqraeed is being celebrated with religious fervour and gaiety in various parts of the country today. The faithful offered Eid prayers in Eidgahs and mosques.

In Delhi, main Eid congregations was held at Jama Masjid, Fatehpuri mosque and Shahi Eidgah.

Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated to commemorate the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his only son in obedience of God’s command.

The festival of sacrifice symbolises and strengthens the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood and amity among people.

Traditionally, during this period, Muslims visit the holy city of Makkah in Saudi Arabia for the annual hajj pilgrimage ahead of the Eid festival.

Eid-ul-Adha is being celebrated in Uttar Pradesh with religious fervour. Authorities have made elaborate arrangements and taken precautionary measures for the celebrations of Bakrid today.
