Thousands of people today joined an austerity march from Portland Place to Parliament Square in central London to protest the Conservative government.
Demonstrators converged in central London to demand an end to belt-tightening that has led to cuts in spending for public services.
According to the organising body the People’s Assembly, more than 100,000 people attended the rally. People from across the country have travelled to the capital for the march.
Protesters arrived with banners branding messages of defiance against austerity and the Tory Party, including “Austerity kills” and “Kick the Tories out”.
