Uttar Pradesh has recorded 57.03 percent voter turnout in the 6th phase of assembly polls till 5 PM today compared to 55.04 percent in 2012. Forty nine assembly constituencies spread over seven districts of the state went to polls in this phase today.
The Districts are Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Azamgarh, Mau and Ballia. Deputy Election Commissioner Vijay Dev told reporters in New Delhi that polling was peaceful. He said, the poll percentage is expected to go up as the final figures are yet to come.
Fate of 635 candidates including 63 women is now sealed in EVMs.
Manipur has recorded over 84 per cent record polling in the 1st phase of assembly polls in 38 Assembly Constituencies spread over six districts. Polling went off peacefully with no incident of violence.
Speaking to mediapersons at Imphal State Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Kumar Dewangan said, today’s polling has recorded the highest ever voter turnout in the electoral history of Manipur. He further said that the poll percentage is likely to increase when the final report of polling comes from the remote areas.
The Commission also notified the period of prohibition of conduct of exit polls for assembly elections of Goa, Manipur, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh till 5.30 P.M. of 9th March. The ban on Exit polls has been extended due to polling in one constituency each in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The EC adjourned the poll in the two constituencies and fixed 9th March as the date of poll due to death of candidates.
