Uttar Pradesh has recorded 61 percent voter turnout in the 4th phase of assembly polls till 5 PM today in fifty three assembly constituencies spread over 12 districts of the state.
Deputy Election Commissioner Vijay Dev told reporters in New Delhi that polling was peaceful. He said, the poll percentage is expected to go upto 63 percent as several voters were in the queue to exercise their franchise at the close of the polling time. He said 13. 49 crore rupees in cash and over 3.26 lakh liters of liquor were seized by election authorities during this phase.
Mr Dev also told media that preventive actions were taken against 2. 64 lakh troublemakers. He said, 38 cases of paid news have also been found during this phase.He also said, two police officials have been suspended in connection with the pre- poll violence in Mahoba and the accused involve in the incident have been arrested.
