Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wicremsinghe has said, he will like the Proposed Economic and Technological Cooperation Agreement, ETCA with India to be signed quickly, preferably in 2016-17.
In an interview to The Hindu newspaper, Mr. Wicremsinghe said, there are not areas of substantive isagreement in the ongoing negotiations, rather they are being discussed step by step.
Mr. Wicremsinghe’s comments came as the deadline set by him for the agreement to be signed by end of this year is coming to an end. He said, the ETCA will pave way for tripartite arrangement for trade and investment between India, Sri Lanka and Singapore.
