Vast quantities of scrapped and new notes are being unearthed as the crackdown on black money racketeers continued across the country. Police, the Income Tax Department and the ED are closely keepin eye on unscrupless transactions
Jaipur ATS arrested 2 traders and one middleman with 35 lakhs in currency between them.
Police say the middlemen had struck a deal with the businessman to exchange old notes at a commission of 25 percent.
After raids across 4 Delhi Axis bank branches IT officials targeted its NOIDA branch where 20 illegally registered companies were discovered with deposits of a whopping 60 crores in them.
The It dept also raided the Connaugt Place Axis bank branch.
Earlier 2 officials of the bank were arrested The spate of incidents involving the bank has since placed all its officials and staff under the scanner.
Demonetisation was followed by reports of many Delhi jewellers selling gold for black money.
As the Income tax raided jewellerers in Karol Bagh nearly Rs. 70 lakh was unearthed of which 30 lakhs was in new currency.
The Income tax dept. raided the Kohinoor Craft Brass Export House offices of Moradabad as well as 8 other locations related to the Nilkanth sweet shops of Vineet Khand and Vivek Khand in Lucknow.
Bihar’s Gaya became the target of IT sleuths as traders were reported to be exchanging crores of the old currency into new.
In addition scores of Jandhan accounts which suddenly showed deposits of lakhs of rupees are also being investigated.
In Dharwar police unearthed a huge cache of 23 lakhs. Till date the dept has so far unearthed nearly 3,000 crores of unaccounted wealth in the country.
Of this Karnataka’s share is the highest amounting to about 20 percent of the entire haul. The speed with which govt agencies are cracking down on black money has led to the hope that those with the aim of disrupting the country’s economic progress and causing problems for the common man will soon be brought to book.
