The residents of capital city Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh are left high and dry as they did not get newspapers’ delivery on their doorsteps consecutively on 7th day today as hawkers’ strike continues.
Since September 1, the newspaper hawkers went on strike demanding hike in their commission and as a result, the Lucknowite’s have been deprived of morning newspapers. Several round of talks between the management of newspapers and the union leaders of the hawkers have yielded no result as the hawkers were adamant over rise in their commission.
Hawkers’ association has said that their commission was last raised nineteen years ago and since prices have kept soaring.
