Newly appointed ministers who were inducted in the expansion of Narendra Modi cabinet yesterday have assumed charge today. Talking to media after taking charge, the Ministers highlighted their priorities.

Speaking to media after taking charge, Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said, effective communication is key to development and his focus will be on empowerment of people through information. Mr Naidu said, empowering people with information of different kinds relevant to fulfill their aspirations is very essential. He said, both official and private media will be involved in empowering people.

Mr Naidu said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ushered in a process of change in the country and reoriented approach to development. He said, Government believes in undiluted and unadulterated flow of information to people. He said, his mission also will be to energize the media units and his guiding principle of communication will be development of community and the country.

Minister for Law and Justice Ravi Shankar Prasad said, quick justice delivery is key to good governance and Modi government is committed for good governance and development. Speaking to media after taking charge of his Ministry, Mr Prasad said, judiciary is important and integral in India and government respects the institution of judiciary. The Minister said, his job will be to ensure that the sanctity between judiciary and executive is maintained and vacancies are filled in the courts.

Replying to a query on Uniform Civil Code, Mr Prasad said, the matter is pending before the Law Commission and it needs comprehensive discussions.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar, who also took charge today, claimed that the whole country is in favour of GST. He said, passage of the bill will be his priority for which government will talk to all political parties. Mr Kumar said, government will talk, discuss and request all political parties that the GST bill should be passed in the Monsoon session, so that it can be implemented as early as possible.

While assuming charge, new Textile Minister Smriti Irani said, boosting Textile industry is the dream of the Prime Minister and she looks forward to work in this direction. Rural Development Minister
Narendra Tomar, Steel Minister Birender Singh, Environment Minister Anil Madhav Dave, and Sports Minister Vijay Goel also took charge.

Arjun Ram Meghwal and Santosh Gangwar took charge as the Ministers of State for Finance. Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain and Minister of State for External Affairs M J Akbar also took charge. Ministers of State, S S Ahluwalia, Ramdas Athawale, Jayant Sinha, Mahendra Nath Pande, P P Chaudhary, C R Chaudhary, and Ajay Tamta, also assumed charge.
