Hundreds of people in Kerala have been shifted to relief camps following monsoon fury for the past five days. Alappuzha and Kollam districts remain the worst-hit. In Alappuzha’s Kuttanad, a temporary bund that separated the backwaters from around 350 acres of paddy land was washed away. Flood waters entered more than 200 houses forcing the residents to leave.
State Agriculture Minister V.S. Sunilkumar asked Ministry officials to visit the affected areas and prepare a report on the damage to agriculture crop. Meanwhile, Weathermen have issued an alert to coastal regions. According to Met officials rain or thunder shower is likely to continue till Thursday and winds may blow at a speed of 55 to 60 kilometer/hour.
