The Biju Janata Dal today declared the names of its candidate for the Rajya Sabha elections scheduled to be held next month. Chief minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik announced the names of N. Bhaskar Rao, Prasanna Acharya and Bisnu Das as the nominees of the party.
While N. Bhaskar Rao is the deputy chairman of the State Planning Board and Prasanna Acharya, a former minister and vice-president of BJD, the party consider the candidatures based on their political expertise.
Bisnu Das, a five-time MLA and backward community leader is currently party president of the Jagatsinghpur district was chosen by the party chief keeping in mind his valuable contribution to the Party. The announcement came at a press conference in Bhubaneswar this afternoon.
