United States has said that the Islamic State militant group is losing control over territory across Iraq and Syria. Pentagon spokesman Peter Cook yesterday said in Washington that about 45 percent of the territory once held by IS group in Iraq has been recovered. He said, about 16 to 20 percent area held by the militant group in Syria has also been recovered.
Since August 2014, the United States has led an international coalition fighting back against the IS group, using a combination of air strikes and training and equipping local partners.
