The family members of sub-inspector Akhtar Ali, who was killed in a ‘encounter’ at Dadri on Monday, have alleged that the brave cop was murdered by his fellow officers and have demanded a CBI probe into the events surrounding his death.
“My brother was murdered by his fellow policemen. We don’t want money but a CBI probe. Money will not get my brother back. He was shot in the throat from a very close range. There were 14 policemen in the raid. They should be questioned. Nobody said anything regarding his death for almost two hours. What were they doing in that time?” said Yameen Ahmad, Ali’s brother, who works in Ghaziabad.
Another brother, Sameer, also a policeman posted in Etah, who has gone to Dadri along with their father, Babu Khan, to examine the scene of his death too see conspiracy in the death of Akhter.
Ali was killed in an early morning raid to arrest some men wanted in several cases. Razia Begum, Ali’s wife, said that he could have been saved if his fellow officers had not abandoned him at the scene of the gunfight and had taken him to hospital on time. “He just bled to death because he was left there for more than an hour. The last time he visited he was quite happy as he was expecting a promotion. His colleagues, he said, were happy with his work.
